Listed among the twenty-two “Villages Anciens” (ancient villages) of the Gironde département, Bourg was built on a rocky promontory rising 22 metres above the water.
Take a walk (allow an hour and a half to two hours) and discover this charming, peaceful little town: the Esconge park, its ramparts, the château of the citadel, the so-called “Moorish” villa, one of the finest public wash-houses in the region, and of course the museum displaying 19th-century horse-drawn carriages, a building where a carriage passage leads to oil tanks built during the Second World War.
